Mum to be: avocado body butter

So here goes another recipe. A lovely and rich body butter for mums to be. I chose avocado oil as my main ingredient for this healing balm. It is a mild, nourishing, semi-fatty oil, rich in vitamins and fatty acids. It is used when the skin is dry or damaged. I have also used a different butter making method where I added avocado oil without heating it. The purpose of this was that I didn’t want to heat up this vitamin rich oil so I could preserve its nutrients. Since this body butter is for a pregnant lady,  I wanted to make it the best it can be! You can add up to 50% of the overall vegetable oil content to your balm when the wax has melted. This actually saves lots of work and time heating and cooling the oils. 23g olive wax  20g coconut oil 55 avocado oil 2g vitamin E Melt the olive wax and coconut oil together in a double boiler. When the olive wax is melted, remove the ingredients from the double boiler. Without waiting for the …

Whipped shea & avocado body butter

You know when you are so excited about something that you  just can’t sit still!? I felt like this yesterday when I checked my butter supplies. Not much left… what could I do to use them up? There is no way I am wasting even one bit! And then… ding dong! Why don’t I mix these butters up and whip myself a nice body cream! I felt like I was creating an explosion of skincare goodness! The cream making process was so enjoyable and seeing the butters becoming soft and fluffy was a very happy moment! You can whip shea butter on its own and it already makes a lovely body cream without any additions, but for someone like me, additives are very important! I want things to be as lush and luxurious as possible! 50g Shea butter 25g avocado butter 25ml kukui nut oil In a bowl, warm the butters slightly just to soften them. Measure carefully and add the oils. With a hand held whisk, beat the butter until soft and fluffy. You can add a few drops of your favourite essential oil. Gorgeous!

Shea massage bar

Some time ago I bought Kukui nut oil and haven’t tried it yet and therefore I added this oil to my message bars to give them an ultimate luxurious consistency. The oil has a very mild nutty smell, is very light and skin absorbs it easily without leaving it greasy. It’s especially useful for extremely dry skin and hair!  60g Shea Butter 20g olive wax 20ml kukui nut oil Carefully measure the ingredients. Melt the butters and wax in a little stainless steel dish over hot water. Remove from the heat and add the base oil. If using, add the essential oils. Mix well and pour into a mould. Allow to set and enjoy massaging your body with a little bar of natural goodness!
