Strawberries and soda for whiter teeth

Sometimes I read celebrity beauty tips. Not sure how truthful they are when they say that they stick to homemade remedies, I am sure they secretly rush to the beauty salon for a facial or teeth whitening session now and again. But I want to believe that J. Anniston is using salt body scrub to keep her skin healthy and radiant.

My dentist back home recommended using soda to keep my teeth healthy. So from time to time I’d mix a pinch of soda with a little bit of fresh lemon juice in a small glass of lukewarm water and rinse my mouth following with careful toothbrush movements. It works well and also refreshes the gums. No fear of chemicals damaging the enamel!

Recently I’ve decided to incorporate strawberries into my routine. You only need half a strawberry for the treatment.

Apparently the strawberries loosen  the stains on the teeth leaving them whiter and cleaner! But be sensible and remember not to practice this strawberry treatment too often because of its acid content. Once a week is more than enough! Make sure you brush your teeth very well after the treatment, the remains of natural sugars on your teeth can cause cavities and therefore floss is essential!

Teeth whitening

half a strawberry

a pinch of baking soda

Crush the strawberry and mix it with the baking soda. With your toothbrush, apply the mixture to the teeth. Keep it on for about 5 minutes (do not keep it any longer!), brush your teeth with regular toothpaste, rinse, floss and…smile!

  1. I haven’t known this strawberry! But yes, lemon juice, baking soda and also carbonate (in here we buy of this The British Calcium Carbonate) they are really so good. Thank you dear Kristina, I hope you are fine. Love, nia

    • I use soda once a week; sometimes twice 🙂 coconut or sesame oil is also very good for mouth care. Just rinse your mouth with a dollop of one of the oils and that’s it 🙂 It improves health of the teeth, gums and overall mouth health 🙂

    • Kad nebaisu ir visai neskauda 🙂 Tas pats kas braskes valgyti 🙂 Soda istirpsta ir tikrai nebraizo dantu 🙂 As pasidarau sodos tirpaliuka, truputuka sodos sumaisau su siltu vandeniu. pagargaliuoju, tada su dantu sepetuku pravalu dantis kol soda suputoja, tikrai geras dalykas 🙂 geriau nei cheamikalai 🙂 As viena kart bandziau viena is tu ‘dantu balinimo’ priemoniu is parduotuves ir man po keliu dienu laiko nutrupejo danties galiukas 🙂 o su soda jau metus laiko valau karta-du per savaite ir nieko 🙂

  4. Never would have thought strawberries help with whitening. I’ll have to give this a go. Happy New Year

    • Strawberries also whiten and soften the skin 🙂 They are a treat for your heals 🙂 Also good to mix with clay for a face mask, skin looks radiant in minutes 🙂 Happy New Year!

  5. I have tried apples and celery to help whitening teeth, as they act like natural stain removers by increasing saliva production. I used this method a bunch of times and it helped a bit. I have also tried Power Swabs, It’s a teeth whitening system that uses naturally derived ingredients. It works pretty well.

    • Hey, thanks for that, sounds good to me 🙂 I like using strawberries, they smell and taste so good 😀
